SIMPLE TECHNOLOGY IS ESSENTIAL
“Technology is here to stay,” says Matthew Tillman in an opinion piece for the June issue of
Bridge for Design magazine. Why? “Technology makes life easier, more enjoyable and saves time.”
Asked by the magazine’s editors if there is a backlash against home technology, Matthew explains that, if anything, the amount of technology we are using is actually increasing. “There’s no backlash if the interest in clever solutions for the home continues at its current pace. After all, most homeowners want a property that works efficiently and most people like an easy option.”
IT’S GOT TO BE CUSTOMER-DRIVEN
In this penthouse apartment, the home automation was very much customer-driven and needed to be easy to use. “Technology has to be simple to use or it fails in its primary function and what should be a fabulous positive soon turns into the exact opposite,” says Matthew. “A backlash against technology is, therefore, only against tech that doesn’t work, not the tech itself. It’s the installation that’s at fault. In the hands of a great integrator, even a complicated home, with multiple electrical circuits, can be made easy.”
